COSY BOX
Ephemeral club, Cannes Film Festival 2013
Living in a (Cosy) Box
Upon entering, a blind lecturer tells a story of a world placed into abyss; ephemeral, whimsical, and lined with black & gold ; a chimerical festival that glows only at night.
The tone is set; entering towards the « all black everything » pitch-black chamber, comes the appeal of a phosphorescent light, an aerial cube, that reveals itself as an anamorphosis, but transforms into a series of abstract lines throughout the progression inside the box- a ritual towards the other side of the mirror.
Floating in golden lights, a series of fallen icons, overwhelmed in molasses are suffocating by the very hopes and desillusions of consummerism, that haunt the mascarade of the 2013 Festival de Cannes.
Similarly, countless outstretched white hands, emerging from the black velvet envelope, reach out for the Holy Grail, the ultimate trophy, la Palme d’Or- an unobtainable optical illusion, thus completing the equation of the (Cosy) Box.
