DISCHRONIA

CENTRE POMPIDOU PARIS  I  FRANCE 2025

A constellation of mirrors sets Beaubourg in orbit.

Light and kinetic scenography, roller disco of La Main Jaune
Centre Pompidou, Paris 2025

As part of « BecausexBeaubourg » event, announced as “the largest event ever staged at the Centre Pompidou”, the museum opened the doors of its iconic Gallery 1 to an unprecedented scenographic experiment.
Suspended above Paris, two thousand square meters, cleared for the first time of all partitions, host Dischronia, a monumental light installation paying tribute to the legendary Parisian club La Main Jaune.
Dischronia, a contraction of disco and chronos, reactivates the spirit of the nineteen eighties roller disco through an immersive encounter between the museum, the body, light, music and the architecture of Renzo Piano.
At the center of the space, a gigantic disco sphere diffuses light in every direction, sweeping across the volume, from walls to floor to ceiling, and sculpting every plane of the museum in a continuous circular choreography.
Around it, a constellation of mirrored satellites, suspended in a triangulated light equation, multiplies every luminous fragment.

The sphere rotates, light circulates, time expands.
Inside the core of the Centre Pompidou, light becomes matter, architecture becomes motion and a silent clock marks the final pulses before the museum’s major renovation, revealing the circular drift of time.
The celebration becomes a ritual, the roller disco becomes a temporal prism.

Views of Paris, from the Marais to the Sacré Coeur and La Defense, merge into the shifting reflections of the installation, where the luminous architecture of Dischronia resonates with the city. With each rotation, a fragment of the urban landscape appears and dissolves, transforming the museum into both a space of perception and an observatory of time.

Dischronia is more than an installation, it is a collective and sensorial celebration.

A bridge between two temporalities, between the return of La Main Jaune and the coming transformation of the Centre Pompidou.
A vibrant homage to the body, to light and to memory, suspended between the radiance of what remains and the promise of what is yet to come.
