TOP NEST
Top Nest is the first restaurant installed in an existing Parisian rooftop; Colonize the roofscape for a new urbanity. Using simple and rapid construction techniques, TOP NEST (Haut-Nid in french)is a deliberate act of conquering virgin urban terrain.
An additional rooftop layer permits the injection of new possibilities, redefining the use value of place.Haut-Nid (read ”honi” as in latin), a term chosen for its meaning, is for those who yearn to escape in the space of a moment . After a vertical ascent, the context of the roof offers generous, free horizontal views. This place of exile generates sensory proximity to the city, its people and machines, enriched by the variety of sounds and lights of Paris.
Constructed solely of bent plywood panels, the project was mounted on site in three days. The form was designed to maximize views of the Parisian landscape and sky, resulting in a three-dimensionally curved object that sits discretely in white, emphasizing the views of Paris by framing the elusive.
