CASA ANFA

White and Gold

Located in the Anfa neighborhood, “Anf,” or literally “the promontory,” takes shape through a variation of cantilevers onto the street.

The morphology of the project is simple yet finely adapted to the site. The building is a plain volume, composed of cantilevers and voids responding directly to the urban regulations of Casablanca.
The project is composed of a sequence of vegetal spaces, including private gardens to the south, hanging gardens, and a central park connected to the street. The proposal opens the block through a green void, connecting the sidewalk to a unifying public space, opening the limits of the property.

Boxes can be plugged onto the façade to create loggias or balconies, depending on needs. These boxes are made of retractable shutters composed of thin strips of bleached wood, whether half closed, mostly open, or fully retracted. The loggias are set with wooden sliding sunscreens that provide movable solar protection, improve thermal management, and create a diffusion of light within the housing through refraction.

Dressed in white and gold, the proposal sometimes takes the role of an accelerator of light, or sometimes that of protection, all the while developing an ever-changing geometry according to the needs of each inhabitant.
