BUNGALOW-TECH
Located on the island of Praslin in the Seychelles, a natural reserve proclaimed Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1963, this project of eco-lodges lands softly on the territory.
Our proposal is based on a master plan on studs; elevated from the ground so as not to impact its surroundings, the decks float on existing vegetation from the island.
The construction of the prefabricated homes allows a superficial installation on site, without having to dig any foundations.
Essentially made out of natural low-tech materials, renewable and recyclable such as wood, mud and lime and materials diverted and reused such as corrugated sheet retirees.
The islands’ knowledge is engaged by reaping rainwater and using soft techniques to purify wastewater. Local construction techniques and craftsmanship of the islands’ community are involved in the project, bringing together both social and environmental commitment.
The reception rooms have a roof that is covered by peat, cinnamon and wild orchids that allow a visual and olfactory comfort while simultaneously creating an optimum insulation by forming solid hardwoods that penetrate inside the living room.
Preservation, and even vegetal intrusion backs up endemic flora and actively involves the sensation of living in a protected environment within the mangrove.
It is a way to allow nature to reinvest in places, sometimes even erase them like a contemporary ruin and recreate the experience of the possible, nestled in his lodge in the hollow jungle.
