Reinvent the workspaces

Our work for open-source experts Adyax’s Parisian headquarters aims to redefine the concept of space planning and create new ways to live and work together in a twenty-first century office building.

An obsolete legacy.
Work spaces are still based on the same model rooted in the industrial era. Now obsolete, they are no longer able to adapt to new ways of working, especially in the digital realm.

Towards flexible and modular spaces.
The “paperless office,” combined with the dematerialization, increase of mobile or remote working and the varying expectation of autonomy and working in teams, the extension of the company, and the emergence of new workplaces work hubs, create many new opportunities.

These developments create new prospects and new fields of exploration. To rethink these types of spaces, we developed multipurpose modular solutions as well as materials and objects that are part of the project.

We also created new dispositions and alternative workspaces. The use of laptops allows true mobility within the office, so there are work areas with various spatial and chromatic characteristics; a varied range of different atmospheres, including shared spaces, meeting rooms, and private work areas.

To provide places for informal exchanges, planned meetings, and different types of public receptions, we concentrated on distorting scale-related uses.

Sliding PVC walls create a microarchitecture partition—with thermal and acoustic insulation—that structures the space and allows the connection or separation of working spaces in a few seconds.

The abstract, colorful touches provide a strong visual identity and a playful touch. The central space, similar to a nave, invites meditation on the essence of emptiness, as in the spaces of a cathedral. It also draws the eye toward the center, then to the side, as the variations in light allow the enjoyment of much-needed calm.

This architectural anamorphosis creates matrix cubes that are anchored to the hall’s columns, halfway between abstraction and spatial reality. This blue and gold form is an invitation to contemplate, a golden window on a blue ocean, and a mind opener toward other places.
